Jesus makes a declaration that no one can be worthy of HIM (true disciple) unless they love him more than their parents.

Matthew 10:37 AMP “He who loves [and takes more pleasure in] father or mother more than [in] Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves [and takes more pleasure in] son or daughter more than [in] Me is not worthy of Me.”

Have you ever stopped and deeply thought about this? No one including you and I can be a true disciple of CHRIST JESUS unless we love him more than our parents.

In 1Samuel 19 verses 1 – 4 King Saul gives an instruction to his servants and Jonathan his son to have David assassinated. Naturally it would have been a fitting instruction particularly for Jonathan as he was an heir to his Father’s throne, and David was indeed a serious threat to him ascending to the throne however this man chose to lay down his life for GOD’s counsel to prevail.

Imagine the privileges, prominence and power that would have been his inheritance yet given all he still embraced GOD’s counsel above his Father’s wishes. How many today would give up all, step aside and assist total “strangers” to ascend to their GOD given purposes even if it meant to cross family lines/legacies (1Samuel 20 verses 30 – 34)?
This Jonathan brethren was satisfied with GOD’s choice even if in the natural it appeared that he was working towards his own disadvantages. This man chose to lay down his own life for a friend. This man showed love for GOD more than love for his Father and indeed was a true disciple of Jesus.

Food for thought: If GOD was to choose someone ahead of you that HE wants you to assist in realizing their calling even if it meant you being the one to be somehow sacrificed just like Jonathan would you be keen to do it?
