Every human needs some degree of love and affection. We often have families, friends and associates to satisfy this need. But the only challenge with having circles of people is that mans love will always be conditional. These days, we can’t even trust our own families in our time of need. But there is the exceeding supernatural love that is unconditional and uncompromising. The love of love itself- God.
Psalms 119:76, “May your unfailing love be my comfort…” knowing that God loves us gives us peace and more of the comfort that we will ever need. God’s love will overwhelm our heart, leaving no room for foreign voice invaders that always voice out our worries, “…He will take great delight in you, he will quite you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing” Zepheniah3;17. Like a person in the very deep end of the water, we need to drown in God’s love so much that no foreign voices prevail but that of the Lover of our soul. This builds trust and faith in God. Like a little baby who has no doubt that his parent will catch him when he says jump, so will our faith in God should be – that of little ones. “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” Matthew 18:3.
In the book of 1Samuel 3 when God calls Samuel, Samuel was not familiar with the voice of God and as a result, he thought it was the voice of the man he knew- Eli. In verse7, the bible explains why Samuel could not recognize the voice of God, “…the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him”. Psalms119:130 “the unfolding of the word gives light, it gives understanding to the simple”. The bible explains Samuel inability to recognize the voice of God by the word. This teaches us that, the Logos or written word of God is the first stop to knowing God. In order for us to embrace Gods love, we need to know who God is, and that He loves us. So, wherever the word of God is still sealed, folded or not made known, light will never be known, in this case that we are the beloved of Jehovah. Through the word, we establish His love, we get assurance of His love and we become secure in His Love.
Revelation 2:2-3 “2. I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claimed to be apostles but are not and have found them false. 3. You have persevered and endured hardships in my name, and have not grown weary”. Wow, sounds like a healthy church right. Let’s move on to verse4 “yet I hold this against you: you have forsaken your first love”. Many times we become too occupied and very busy, not only with things of the world but also in the church, from attending rehearsals to organising services. I do not assume that this is wrong in any way, but how many times do we stop being Martha and becoming Mary. Before being a useful tool in the church, God wants to have fellowship with his beloved, a people after His heart and not His hand.
In conclusion, God loves us all equally. His love for us is not measured by how much He uses us. On the contrary, He uses us based on how much we respond to His love. The foundation of every miracle, anointing, and power is embracing God’s love – fellowship.
