Proverbs 3 verse 5 – 6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

The above scripture encourages us to trust God wholeheartedly and not to try and work things out using our own knowledge or understanding.

This means we need to commit to trusting God completely and sincerely with everything that concerns our lives. We need to trust that God knows what is best for us and as we yield and acknowledge him, he will direct our steps and make our paths straight.

At times in life we get so lost attempting to chase after dreams and possessions. It might be a house, a car, a job, a husband/wife, or money that we are desperately seeking to attain. We spend hours and so much energy chasing and chasing, only to find that all our efforts are in vain. We devise plans and strategies to achieve our goals and we forget all about the Lord. Yet His Word clearly states that: “we should delight ourselves in the Lord (trust God) and he will give us the desires of our hearts.” – Psalm 37 verse 4. Just as Matthew 6 verse 33 teaches that: “seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” – This means we should seek God first and put our trust in Him, then as we do that, all else will follow.

Trusting God and relying on Him results in peace and tranquility in our minds. This is because we no longer depend on our own strength, efforts and abilities. When we trust in God, we depend on His ability “…to do exceedingly, abundantly, far above what we could ever ask or imagine” – Ephesians 3 verse 20. Also when we trust God, we begin to understand deeper Gods love for us. We cannot fully experience the love of God unless we put our guard down and completely trust Him. Psalm 32 verse 10: “…but the LORD’s unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him.”

In conclusion I would like to end off with the words to one of my favorite songs, which say: “Trust and obey, for there is no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.”
